A new Rasmussen Poll of 300 likely primary voters conducted on January 25 shows David Hoffman's upward surge. The Rasmussen poll, taken right before our major statewide TV buy, shows considerable movement for David, which will only improve when more people see the ad. David has picked up 14 points since December, while Mr. Giannoulias remains stuck at 31%
Rasmussen Poll January 25, 2010
Giannoulias 31
Hoffman 23
Jackson 13
Undecided 24
Previous Polls have shown David's upward trend.
The well-respected Public Policy Polling (PPP) firm conducted a poll on January 22-25 that showed David Hoffman gaining ground on Alexi Giannoulias in the Senate Democratic Primary.
Giannoulias 32
Hoffman 20
Jackson 18
Undecided 29
Polling results compare to the Chicago Tribune poll that was conducted on January 16-20 and published today in the newspaper:
Giannoulias 34
Jackson 19
Hoffman 16
Undecided 26
Mr. Giannoulias has spent more than $2 million on television ads over the last several weeks and has shown little or no movement in the polls. On the other hand, since December, David has moved up 14 points in the polls from 9 percent to 23 percent.
David Hoffman has received all of the major newspaper endorsements in the state including the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, Daily Herald, State Journal-Register, Peoria Journal-Star, The News-Gazette and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
With 24 percent of the electorate still undecided five days out from the election, voters are looking for something different than business as usual. The movement by David in the recent polls shows that undecided voters are breaking his way.
